El Paso Directory

With a blurred ethnic divide, El Paso is located in the western tip of the U.S. state of Texas but because the city borders with Mexico, El Paso celebrates a very Mexican and Spanish flavor. El Paso, known as the “Sun City” enjoys, on average, 302 sunshine filled days and has a semi-arid climate. The summers are very hot with the winters being dry and warm as well.

One of the strangest things about El Paso is the National Border Patrol Museum. At the museum you can journey through the history of the U.S. Border Patrol from the beginning in the Old West, through Prohibition, World War II, into the high-tech Patrol of today.

The high mountains, which cut through the middle of the city, offer scenic vistas for El Paso. Visitors can ride the Wyler Aerial Tramway to Ranger Peak to get a panoramic vista of the city, or drive along Transmountain Road, which cuts right through the Franklin Mountains.

With such a close proximity to Mexico, it is entirely possible to have breakfast in El Paso and lunch in Mexico. Many visitors use El Paso as a starting point for a rich Mexican vacation complete. Some exciting attractions in Mexico are the bullfights and mariachis. The Mexicans are also famous for their colorful dances.
